Teamsters LU 2011 Celebrating Victories

Thank You From A Member

On August 2015, another coworker and I were arrested on alleged battery against inmates and falsifying state documents.

A few weeks later the last coworker allegedly involved was arrested for falsifying documents.
I was the only one that had Teamsters at the time. I was helped with my criminal case and the case was dropped.
Yet we were still without a job and the state sustaining they had cause to dismiss us.
Again, I had Teamsters and was able to go to arbitration through them! Today I can say I am reemployed by the State of Florida and honestly it wouldn’t have been possible without Teamsters. Kim Schultz, Mr. Muse, Mrs. Ireland, Officer Brookins, and Officer Twiggs.
I am so grateful, without Teamsters and the support of the people above mentioned, none of this would have happened.
All I can say is thank you for always following through and always looking out for the little guy!!

Letter from the President

December 27, 2016

Dear Teamster Local 2011 Members,

Effective December 16, 2016, Teamsters Local 2011 is no longer the official bargaining unit for the Department of Corrections’ Correctional and Probation Officers.  As a result, your automatic dues deductions ceased on December 23, 2016 (for pay period December 2-December 15).  Therefore, should you wish to continue your representation with Teamsters Local 2011, you will need to sign up directly with us.  Attached you will find a membership application, which you must complete and return to the contact information listed on the attached application.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you are a member with an open investigation with the IG’s office or have received a notice of discipline for events occurring on or before December 16, 2016, we will ONLY continue to represent you if you remain a dues paying member.  This will require you to immediately complete the attached application and return it no later than January 10, 2017.  Failure to do so will result in our immediate termination of our legal obligation to represent you for incidents, which occurred prior to December 16, 2016.

Business Agent William “Bill” Muse spoke with PBA’s representative Al Shopp, who unequivocally stated that PBA will not represent any officer who joins PBA and who has an outstanding investigation or discipline that occurred prior to December 16, 2016 or prior to joining PBA, whichever occurs later.

It is important that officers take immediate action.

Thank you and we look forward to continuing to serve you.
